Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know if coaching will help me?
In our first initial consultation you can share your goal and ask any questions you might have regarding coaching. If you feel that coaching will work for you and that I am the right coach for you we can find the right coaching package for you.
The initial meeting is a mutual assessment. Just as you will find out whether I am the right coach for you, I will assess whether you are motivated and prepared to be accountable for your work and commitment to the process. It is important to know that a coach does not "magically fix" things, but walks alongside you on your journey, supporting and guiding you along the way through their expertise. You are responsible for the work you are prepared to do.

What coaching packages do you offer?
I offer 6 session packages and 12 session packages. Some of my clients however prefer ongoing coaching. Additionally I offer intensive 3-hour and all day sessions. Clients who want ongoing sessions  mustn't have gaps between sessions longer than two weeks as this dilutes the process. We can discuss what option works best for you during out first meeting.

Can I book ad-hoc as and when needed rather than booking a certain number of sessions?
Some coaches might do that but coaching is a process, not a one session quick fix or check-in. This way of working would be a disservice to your goals and aspirations. Coaching relies on a commitment to continued development and growth and involves a series of agreed upon action steps.

Where do the coaching sessions take place?
I offer coaching sessions in my office, your location as well as via Skype, Zoom and via phone, however prefer Skype and Zoom over phone as they have the option of transferring visual tools such as files which we might use during our sessions. Some clients like to meet in a café as long as there is enough space and quiet.

When do coaching sessions take place?
Virtual and phone coaching can take place any time of day depending on your location. You can book yourself in via my online calendar here.

How long does a session last?
An individual sessions lasts 60 minutes or if you book an intensive sessions, this would last three hours or if you require me to travel, we can arrange for full day sessions (six hours with breaks) over a weekend.

Do you offer coaching abroad?
Yes, I can travel anywhere in the world as long as expenses are covered and the area is safe to travel to. Abroad clients usually want intense coaching packages and then follow up sessions via Skype or Zoom or another visit.

What are your qualifications?
I have trained as a psychotherapist according to UKCP standards and my coaching training is accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF). I am also a member of the Creativity Coaching Association and the International Positive Psychology Network.

What is the difference between psychotherapy, counselling and coaching?
Both have positive change as a goal but coaching does not look into the past but has a clear focus on the future with a time goal attached to it. Counselling deals with here and now short-term issues of mental well-being and psychotherapy deals with mental health and mental well-being more in depth and can be longer term. As I am trained in psychotherapy I would notice if there was a need for psychotherapy rather than coaching and would share that with you. This is something every coach needs to assess to ensure that their clients get the best support they can have. However, most clients know the difference and have a clear coaching goal in mind.

Who uses a coach?
Originally coaching was something for businesses and athletes but everyone who wants to make a positive change in their life and now achieve benefits from coaching. Goals can be a career change, lifestyle change, a project such as writing a book or other creative challenges, a happy relationship, weight loss, work life balance etc. There is no limit to what can be achieved with coaching. As long as it is a healthy goal coaching will get you to where you want to be.

Do you offer support between sessions?
Yes, we can have  two phone or email contacts between sessions to confirm your goals and to maintain focus. These are usually around 10 to 15 minutes and are included in the fee.

How do I know when to end coaching?
This depends entirely on your goals and on your circumstances. Some clients will agree to a certain number of sessions, some prefer to have ongoing coaching. Both parties can end the coaching relationship at any point, independent of how many sessions have been agreed on. Reasons might be that you needs have changed, we might discover that we are not the right match and sometimes because the coach identifies that counselling might be the more appropriate option. If this is the case I would always share this with you respectfully and support you with information for a referral.

What about payment?
Session fees are agreed at the end of our initial 30-minute chat and are taken in advance for the package you book. Of course you are free to cancel as long as you give at least 48 hour notice before the next session and the full fee minus the sessions you have already taken will be refunded. Sessions with a cancellation notice of less than 48 hours will not be refunded unless it is due to exceptional circumstances. This is to allow other clients enough time to book the now available slot.
